Sigma kicks-off COVAX working group

Sigma Healthcare has initiated a dedicated working group chaired by its Chief Pharmacist, Brinley Hosking, to help prepare the 1,850 pharmacy network ahead of Phase 2 of the Covid-19 vaccination rollout.

The healthcare group says that as Australia’s leading network of independent and franchised pharmacies, it is well positioned to support the Government’s objective of safely vaccinating the population by October.

The COVAX working group brings together 13 specialists including pharmacists, communications, logistics, and training experts to deliver a co-ordinated approach across the network.

“There has already been an exceptional response from our pharmacy partners to the Federal Government’s expressions of interest process. It is a natural extension of the commitment our pharmacists already show in delivering flu vaccines each year. Our pharmacists proudly served on the frontline at the height of the pandemic and are ready to help the community through this next phase,” says Ms Hosking.

“However, there is still limited information available on how the rollout will be delivered. That’s why we’ve established a working group to help plan for all scenarios and ensure our pharmacists are well supported as the rollout accelerates – from providing additional vaccination training, to tools to help coordinate logistics and communication to address customer queries in store.”
