In a statement released this week, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia announced that the Hon Mark Butler MP, Federal Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care, will be addressing delegates at the Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference and Trade Exhibition (APP) on the Gold Coast, Thursday 20 May 2021.
Shadow Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Carers, Emma McBride MP is also expected to attend the conference.
Today’s announcement again demonstrates the vital place community pharmacy has in national health policy, according to APP2021 Conference Convenor, Kos Sclavos AM.
“We are thrilled to welcome both Mr Butler and Ms McBride to APP2021 on the Gold Coast,” says Mr Sclavos.
“We’re very much looking forward to hearing directly from Mr Butler in his role as Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care, and meeting Ms McBride in both her capacity as Shadow Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Carers, and as a pharmacist.”
Mr Sclavos adds that as the Covid-19 vaccination program is likely to be “in full swing” by the time APP2021 comes around, “this will be an opportune time for the industry to be hearing from leaders on all sides of politics regarding their observations and policy positions”.
Mr Butler is expected to address delegates during the APP2021 Plenary on Thursday, 20 May.
Today’s news builds on the recent announcement that APP2021 will be hearing from the Federal Minister for Health and Aged Care, The Hon Greg Hunt MP.
APP2021 is expected to run from 20-23 May 2021 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
