Additional flu vaccine supplies rolling out across Australia

Media Release

27 May 2020

Seqirus Australia is pleased to confirm that additional supplies of flu vaccinations have started to roll out across the country – around one million doses are expected to be rolled out in the next three weeks, ahead of the peak influenza months.

There has been extremely strong early demand for influenza vaccines this year, and Seqirus went back into manufacture to supply additional doses so that as many Australians as possible can access flu vaccines in 2020.

“We’ve seen extremely strong demand for flu vaccines this year. It’s fantastic to see so many Australians listening to expert advice on the importance of flu vaccination programs,” says Seqirus Executive Director Commercial Operations, Danielle Dowell.

“For those who haven’t yet had their flu vaccine, there is now additional stock rolling out across the country in the next few weeks. Please check with your GP or pharmacy first around availability.

“The Seqirus manufacturing team in Victoria have been working incredibly hard to turn around these additional doses so that as many Australians as possible can protect themselves from flu because we know that flu vaccination programs will be more important than ever due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Seqirus was already on track to supply Australians a record number of influenza vaccines this season, and this additional stock will take our total supply to around nine million influenza vaccines.

For 100 years Seqirus – a CSL company – has been on the front line in the fight against influenza in Australia and is proud to operate Australia’s only local manufacturing facility for seasonal and pandemic influenza vaccines.
