Awareness Campaign: ‘Give a $#*! about your bowel’

Leading into Bowel Cancer Awareness Month (June 2023), Bowel Cancer Australia has launched its final instalment of its ‘Give a S#*! About Your Bowel’ advertising campaign, which features actress Miriam Margolyes OBE.

“I’m thrilled to continue being the voice of Bowel Cancer Australia’s talking bowel again this year.

“I’m not one to shy away from perceived ‘taboo’ topics and quite frankly, we need people to give a shit about bowel cancer,” says Ms Margolyes.

This third instalment of the advertising campaign focuses on ‘cancer’ with a clear message that early detection of bowel cancer increases successful treatment rates.

“As a bowel cancer survivor, I know only too well the importance of a campaign that truly resonates with its audience to challenge perceptions in an impactful way,” says Bowel Cancer Australia’s Marketing and Publicity Manager, Stephanie Bansemer-Brown.

Bowel cancer is one of Australia’s most treatable cancers when detected early.

According to Bowel Cancer Australia, it’s the deadliest cancer for people aged 25-44 and Australia’s second deadliest cancer.

Each year more than 15,500 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer.

With almost 99% of bowel cancer cases successfully treated when detected early, it’s imperative people know the symptoms and have them investigated.

It’s time to “GIVE A $*#! ABOUT YOUR BOWEL!”
