Guild expands $1.5m Vic scholarship fund

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Victoria Branch, has expanded its pharmacist prescribing training scholarship, widening access to postgraduate courses and accelerating the development of a full scope pharmacist workforce across the state.

The move follows the Victorian Government’s recognition of all Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) accredited postgraduate pharmacist prescribing programs.

In response, the Guild has confirmed a $1.5 million Pharmacist Prescribing Training Fund to support eligible Victorian pharmacists undertaking recognised APC-accredited courses.

The Fund is now available to Victorian Guild member pharmacists and their sponsored employees undertaking other APC-accredited postgraduate courses, including those offered by the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) and tertiary education providers such as Monash University.

‘Opening the door for training’

“By including the PSA’s Pharmacist Prescribing Scope of Practice Training Program and other recognised courses in our scholarship offering, we’re opening the door for more members to access training sooner,” says Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Victoria Branch President, George Tambassis.

“We are pleased to support our members to offer patients a higher level of care for an
increasing number of everyday health conditions at their local pharmacy — when and where they need it.”

What will applicants receive?

Under the program, eligible applicants will receive up to $5,000 in reimbursement upon successful completion of recognised APC-accredited courses.

Funding is available to financial members of the Guild’s Victoria Branch and their employees.

Scholarships are limited to one pharmacist per member pharmacy and are available until funding is exhausted.
