My Chemist Reservoir becomes last of more than 20 stores to transform into Amcal+ with Ultra Beauty

Chemist Warehouse Group is celebrating a significant and sentimental milestone, with Reservoir My Chemist becoming the final store in a network of more than 20 locations to complete the transition to Amcal+.

This moment marks not only the culmination of a national transformation program, but a return to the very suburb where the Chemist Warehouse story began over 50 years ago.

In 1972, founders Jack and Sam Gance purchased their very first pharmacy in Reservoir, later expanding with a second store just streets away. These early stores laid the foundations for what would become one of Australia’s most successful and recognised pharmacy retail groups.

The transformation of My Chemist Reservoir into Amcal+ brings the journey full circle, honouring the brand’s heritage while introducing a modern, elevated pharmacy experience to the community that helped shape its beginnings. With the addition of Ultra Beauty, Amcal+ Reservoir enhances its premium in-store offering through a dedicated “store-within-a-store” concept, featuring a curated selection of luxury fragrances, makeup, skincare, and haircare. This new addition provides customers with convenient access to high-end beauty brands alongside their everyday pharmacy essentials.

Over the past six months, Sigma has secured its franchisees’ commitment to convert more than 20 My Chemist stores to Amcal+ pharmacies as part of its broader strategy to strengthen Amcal’s position as a leader in the Australian pharmacy landscape.

The recent merger between Sigma and the Chemist Warehouse Group is further accelerating Amcal’s expansion. By combining Sigma’s wholesale and distribution capabilities with Chemist Warehouse’s retail expertise, the merged company creates a more integrated healthcare business, equipped to deliver enhanced health services and improved outcomes for our customers.

The refreshed Amcal+ Reservoir store now features expanded professional services including medication reviews, health checks and personalised care plans, alongside an enhanced product offering spanning pharmacy, wellness and beauty.

“Completing the Amcal+ transformation from My Chemist in Reservoir is a truly special moment for us. It marks the final store in a series of more than twenty conversions, and it’s particularly meaningful because Reservoir is where our journey began, a place shaped by the vision of Jack and Sam Gance, and a reminder of the starting point that made everything possible. This transformation allows us to combine trusted pharmacy services with a modern approach to care, and it also demonstrates our unwavering commitment to fully converting every My Chemist store into Amcal+. This is not just a rebrand, it’s a real, tangible commitment to the strength of the Amcal brand and to the future we are building.

We are proud to bring this next chapter of Amcal+ back to the community that has been part of our story from the very beginning,” said Tony Bassaly, Amcal+ General Manager, Franchise Brands.
