Olympic runner, Peter Bol set to inspire Pharmacy Connect delegates

Pharmacy Connect Conference Convenor, Kos Sclavos AM today announced that Olympian, Peter Bol, is set to inspire this year’s conference delegates with his remarkable story from humble beginnings to the pinnacle of athletic achievement.

Peter is a middle-distance runner who has represented Australia in the 800 metres at the 2016 Rio Olympics, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Mr Sclavos said that Peter’s presentation ‘Running towards greatness – unleashing potential with Olympian Peter Bol’ will take pharmacists on an inspiring journey to understand the value of embracing challenges as opportunities for growth.

“Fresh from competing at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Peter will delve into the mindset of a champion, offering practical strategies for cultivating mental toughness, setting ambitious goals and staying focused amidst distractions,” Mr Sclavos said.

“From a small village in Sudan to the grand stage of the Olympic Games, Peter is a testament to the power of resilience and unwavering belief in oneself.”

Born in Sudan, Peter Bol’s early years were marked by hardship and adversity. Fleeing civil war, his family sought refuge in Egypt before eventually immigrating to Australia when Peter was just four years old. Growing up in the multicultural suburbs of Toowoomba, Queensland, Peter’s passion for running blossomed on the school track, where he discovered a natural talent for middle-distance running.

Despite facing numerous challenges as a young athlete, including financial constraints and limited access to resources, Peter refused to let circumstances dictate his future. Fuelled by a burning desire to excel, he trained tirelessly and relentlessly pursued his dreams of representing Australia on the world stage.

Mr Sclavos said that all pharmacists can learn from Peter’s story.
“Peter will explore how setbacks and failures can serve as stepping stones to success when
approached with the right attitude.”

“His incredible story and insights will empower you to push past your limits and achieve
extraordinary results in both your personal life and in your career.”
