Recognising healthcare heroes

Pharmacy Alliance is recognising and celebrating the often-unnoticed superhero pharmacists, who are going above and beyond to assist their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of their new social and digital campaign, Pharmacy Alliance is calling out members of the community to nominate someone they believe has worked hard and tirelessly throughout this time, to provide the best service possible.

Campbell Gradon, Pharmacy Central Bagara QLD

Pharmacist and part owner of Pharmacy Central Bagara in Queensland, Campbell Gradon, was nominated as a Pharmacy Alliance COVID-19 superhero by several of his customers for his exceptional community service during the health crisis.

Mr Gradon says, “I try to project a sense of calm and rationality into the community I serve to let them know that we are all doing our part and that it’s going to be okay. It’s times like this that I’m so glad that I am part of the Pharmacy Alliance team and that they have our back.”

“To help my community I’ve been working together with my competition to ensure that no one misses out on essential medication. As a pharmacist I can ensure that I am accurate, available and ordering the right medication for the right people. I always try to check for alternatives and apply lateral thinking to provide solutions,” he said.

Meagan Gatehouse, Woodend Pharmacy VIC

Meagan Gatehouse, Retail Manager at Woodend Pharmacy in Victoria has also been singled out for her efforts and professionalism during these unprecedented times with one customer describing her as always willing to go the extra mile, constantly checking in with her local community members and being an overall “brilliant lady”.

“Everyone is really pulling together during these difficult times and I’m proud to do my bit to help keep the people of Woodend safe and healthy. I have the support of an amazing team and they also have gone above and beyond to protect our community. We really appreciate the support from Pharmacy Alliance to enable us to get on with our jobs and be able to put people first,” said Ms Gatehouse.

Simon Reynolds, Pharmacy Alliance Managing Director, says, “Over recent weeks, we have seen examples of superhero efforts across our member pharmacies. This includes everything from keeping on top of customer demand for prescription and other medicine, to installing screens and implementing social distancing measures along with zero-contact delivery services, to keeping up with government regulatory medicine changes.”

In addition to being featured across Pharmacy Alliance social and digital media channels, the COVID-19 superhero pharmacists will also be celebrated at the company’s online Members Meeting on May 27, 2020.
