Rural pharmacy video competition winners

Pharmacy 777 Port Hedland in Western Australia is the first prize winner for Best Video in the Pharmacy Guild’s 2023 ‘Why I Love Rural Pharmacy’ video competition for rural, regional and remote pharmacies across Australia.

The second prize, the People’s Choice, has gone to Life Pharmacy Orange.

Pharmacy 777 Port Hedland receives full registration to APP2024 as its prize, while Life Pharmacy Orange receives a Guild Digital website build credit to the value of $300.

The “Why I love rural pharmacy” video competition’s theme this year was: “Rural Pharmacy – exploring challenges, hidden opportunities.”

Chair of the judging panel and Executive Director of the Pharmacy Guild, Suzanne Greenwood, said the entries this year had successfully showcased regional, rural and remote community pharmacies which have made substantial changes to adapt their pharmacy practices to the evolving healthcare environment.

“The videos highlight how community pharmacy has adapted to ensure the delivery of innovative and effective healthcare to support their community during challenging times, while also planning for the future,” Ms Greenwood said.

“These rural community pharmacies have done this in ways that are unique to each pharmacy and to the patients and communities they serve.

“But on top of this is the enthusiasm for their profession and the difference this makes to patients that has shone though in all the entries.

“Despite the challenges of community pharmacies in regional, rural and remote parts of Australia recently, nothing seems to dampen the enthusiasm of those working within these pharmacies.”

Ms Greenwood said Pharmacy 777’s entry had been cheeky, quirky and lots of fun.

“They played on their name by titling it 7 Challenges and it highlighted the team spirit and the range of community engagement and services they provide,” Ms Greenwood said.

“It was fun while also presenting a powerful message.”
