Star Discount Chemist celebrates World Pharmacists Day

Today celebrate World Pharmacists Day (25 September). The annual event is a day to come together and celebrate the work that pharmacists do in Australia and in the rest of the world.

Organised by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), a World Health Organisation (WHO) partner, the day is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the crucial role that pharmacists play in building healthier communities.

Star Discount Chemist (SDC) says that 2024 has been a milestone year for pharmacists, who have become integral members to our healthcare system, and are now doing more for their patients than ever before. This comes after pharmacists are now able to meet certain healthcare needs including, being able to re-supply prescription oral contraceptives and treat uncomplicated urinary tract infections. These services are game changers for women, significantly reducing the time and hassle of accessing essential healthcare and reducing the stress of GP clinics.

Local South Australian chain, Star Discount Chemist (SDC), is celebrating their pharmacists and recognising the important role they play in the community by asking them how they ‘health’ (aka help) the community.

Meet some of the pharmacists that are serving our community…

  • SDC Hollywood – Hollywood can ‘Health’ by ‘Having a passionate team that empowers local connections, providing personalised healthcare, promote education and preventative care, and supporting wellness initiatives for a healthier community’.
  • SDC Croydon – By being a multicultural team ourselves, we “health” in our pharmacy by understanding our customers’ cultural needs, fostering a culture of inclusivity, offering tailored advice, and making services more widely available to our community by overcoming communication barriers.
