Top award for Marcus Blackmore

Blackmores Executive Director Marcus Blackmore was named 2018 Champion of Entrepreneurship at the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards for the Eastern Region of Australia in Sydney last week, in recognition of his sustained, outstanding entrepreneurial achievement.

“My entrepreneurial journey has been about taking lessons from others and acknowledging the importance of learning from failures,” Mr Blackmore said.

“Giving back and looking after people are the things that drive me.”

The EY (Ernst & Young) Entrepreneur of the Year program recognises and celebrates the spirit of exceptional entrepreneurs. Launched in Australia in 2001, the program has recognised more than 1,500 Australian entrepreneurs for their vision and achievement. EY says winners are recognised as those who “see things beyond the horizon and help shape the future, positive disruptors who change the way we do business and help enhance our quality of life”.

The event was hosted by television and radio presenter Peter Berner, who asked Mr Blackmore for his advice on how to maintain passion through the ups and downs. “Do something that you love,” he replied instantly.

Past winners of the Champion of Entrepreneurship award include Terry White of Terry White Chemists and Nick Paspaley of the Paspaley pearl company.
