TWC launches 2021 flu vaccination program

TerryWhite Chemmart (TWC) launched its influenza vaccination program for 2021 with a ‘direct to consumer’ expression of interest campaign – enabling consumers to sign up to be the first to know about vaccine availability and get early access to book in 2021.

TWC reported that within 24 hours of launch, the campaign had already generated more than 5000 expressions of interest from customers.

On the back of unprecedented demand in 2020 resulting in TWC providing more than half a million flu vaccinations, the pharmacy network is doing everything it can to ensure more Australians can access this critical public health service in what is sure to be a significant year for vaccination services in 2021.

Along with the expression of interest offer, the network also increased its online booking capacity and revamped its corporate flu program, with interest already well exceeding the uptake from last year’s program.

With help from the TWC Health Team, network pharmacists will be supported with additional immunisation accreditation, a virtual vaccination training event scheduled for early February, a launch event at the TWC Conference held on the Gold Coast in late February and hands-on practical training through its Masterclass Forum format in early March.

“Our comprehensive training and engagement plan will help us prepare for what we believe will be the biggest vaccination season ever,” says TWC Chief Pharmacist Brenton Hart.

“Our network of pharmacists will be updated on the latest vaccines, be trained on vial vaccine administration and learn about best-practice workflow management for the upcoming vaccination season.

“Pharmacist-administered vaccination is one of the most successful public health initiatives in Australia in recent years with the number of pharmacist-administered vaccinations increasing to three million this year, up from two million last year. It’s something our industry should feel very proud of and continue to grow,” says Mr Hart.

“We have the most experienced and accessible pharmacy vaccination network in the industry and are already well-equipped to meet anticipated demand next year and beyond. Our commitment to ongoing training, professionalism and management of this service puts us in a strong position to lead the industry when it comes to vaccinations services.”
