Vaccination bookings soar

Community pharmacy, Amcal has announced a 211% increase in flu and family-related vaccination bookings in the last quarter.

The vaccination bookings increase comes following the launch of Amcal’s ‘Your Vaccination Destination’ campaign.

The campaign brings Amcal’s suite of vaccinations, which also include Covid-19 and travel vaccinations, into one patient-centred solution.

Kurt O’Brien, Head of Amcal, says the campaign offers a “simplified, seamless vaccination experience”.

“We are seeing the real-world benefits of patient uptake already as part of this refreshed program,” Mr O’Brien said.

While Mr O’Brien says that growth in vaccination bookings isn’t unique to Amcal, this vaccination uptake increase is “something worth celebrating”.

Amcal Health Services Group Manager Jessica Burrows, BPharm, says pharmacists play a key role in providing vaccinations to their communities.

“We have a fundamental role in helping to raise awareness for what vaccinations to have, and when,” Ms Burrows said.

Speaking about the vaccination uptake, Ms Burrows says it’s particularly pleasing to see the rise in the Covid-19 and flu vaccinations being administered within the same appointment, combating a “previously misunderstood myth that both could not be completed at the same time”.

“More than 1500 Australians have rolled up their sleeves and been administered both vaccinations in our private consultation rooms, to help keep themselves and their communities protected,” Ms Burrows said.
