Capital Chemist Chisholm, ACT, takes out Pharmacy of the Year

The Guild Pharmacy of the Year is held to celebrate and honour pharmacies that are leaders in adapting and innovating to provide top quality healthcare for members and their communities.

This year, Capital Chemist Chisholm in the ACT took the top spot by winning Guild Pharmacy of the Year.

Community pharmacists and their staff across Australia are currently facing critical times and are at the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic – emphasising the important role pharmacies play in healthcare.

The three categories and their winners for this year are:

  • Excellence in Professional Innovation – Wizard Pharmacy Kalgoorlie Central
  • Excellence in Community Engagement – Wheatbelt Health Centre Pharmacy
  • Excellence in Business Management – Capital Chemist Chisholm

Spokesperson from the judging group, pharmacist Nick Panayiaris, Pharmacy Guild of Australia National Councillor and President of the South Australian Branch of the Guild says that Capital Chemist Chisholm has consistently sought to improve its services.

“This pharmacy has a very clear and researched understanding of its community from which it has developed a service tailored to the community’s needs,” says Mr Panayiaris.

“This is an exemplar of the community pharmacy of the future.”

Proprietor of Capital Chemist Chisholm, Rebecca Young says that the win is exciting and humbling.

“To be recognised as the Pharmacy of the Year is a testament to all the work everyone in this pharmacy does every day, and to all our patients who make this work so rewarding.”

“We will use this award as a basis to continue improving and growing.”
