Be smart about your heart

In the lead up to Heart Failure Awareness Week (27 June to 3 July), experts are urging Australians to be smart about their hearts to minimise the risk of heart failure.

Community pharmacy is the perfect place to raise community awareness around heart failure – the risks, symptoms, required lifestyle interventions – and the importance of regular heart health checks.

Heart failure is common and is said to be on the rise in Australia. But with early diagnosis, treatment and lifestyle changes, a person with heart failure can reduce their risk of hospitalisation, feel better, and live a longer and healthier life.
