TWC partners with Audika Australia

TerryWhite Chemmart (TWC) has partnered with hearing healthcare provider, Audika Australia in a bid to make it easier for Australians to check their hearing.

TWC has worked with Audika to bring their five-minute online hearing assessment to TWC customers, who will learn whether they may be at risk of hearing loss and may be referred to an Audika audiologist for further assessment.

Starting this month, Audika clinicians will also be visiting a number of regional and metropolitan TWC pharmacies offering free hearing checks to customers.

Audika’s Managing Director ANZ, Ashley Wilson said the partnership is designed to improve accessibility and make it as convenient as possible for Australians to prioritise their hearing.

“There are 1.3 million Australians living with a hearing condition that could have been prevented. It is imperative that people manage their hearing health in the same way that they would visit a GP for a niggling health concern or the way they visit the optometrist or dentist twice a year,” she said.

With 1 in 6 Australians experiencing hearing loss and only 21% planning on getting a hearing test in the next 12 months, Clinical Trainer Audiologist at Audika, Lauren McNee, agrees that Australians need to start prioritising their hearing.

“It’s great that TWC shares our ambition to help people hear better, and in turn improve their quality of life across so many different facets.

“I encourage everyone to head to their nearest TWC to meet with one of our fantastic hearing care experts and take advantage of this great opportunity,” Ms McNee said.

Chief pharmacist at TWC, Brenton Hart, said he was excited to be partnering with Audika to take the hassle out of staying healthy.

“Improving hearing health can improve many other aspects of health, including reducing the likelihood of depression and anxiety, decreasing the risk of suffering headaches, vertigo and having accidents as well as helping delay cognitive decline and associated conditions such as memory loss and dementia.

“We’re happy to partner with a world-class hearing organisation like Audika to improve accessibility, and ultimately hearing health across the country,” Mr Hart said.
