Local pharmacy helping those in need

Gillieston Heights Discount Drug Store (DDS) Pharmacy Manager, Olivia Dawson, has stepped up to support the local community in Gillieston Heights with essential medication and health services, despite heavy rain and flooding in the area.

“The NSW flood crisis continues to have a devastating impact on our community and as the only pharmacy that residents’ have access to in the area, we are committed to remaining open so that they have access to essential medications and health supplies,” Ms Dawson said.

After being ferried across rising floodwaters by emergency services last week, Ms Dawson has pledged to remain in the isolated suburb to ensure that the pharmacy can remain open to stranded residents in need of essential supplies.

Gillieston Heights has been heavily impacted by the flooding in NSW over the past week with access to the suburb completely blocked by floodwaters, leaving DDS as the sole pharmacy in operation in the area.
