Melbourne’s iconic Rialto will once again transform with a sea of cheerful daffodils blanketing the Piazza in support of Cancer Council’s annual ‘Daffodil Day’.
Over two days, Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd August visitors can wander through the field of flowers, discover new neon light installations and add their own personal messages of hope to the tribute tree. Visitors are encouraged to photograph and share content via social media and to show their support by buying a bunch of daffodils which goes towards funding life-saving cancer research.
Rialto’s General Manager, Sarah Herbert, said Rialto is proud to support Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day for another year: “Cancer Council’s annual Daffodil Day is one that’s very close to our hearts. With almost 100 Victorians diagnosed with cancer every day, so many people are touched by this disease in one way or another. The more we give, the more lives can be saved,”, Ms Herbert said.
With almost 1 in 2 Australians diagnosed with cancer by the time they’re 85, Cancer Council Victoria CEO, Todd Harper AM, urged the community to support Daffodil Day to help fund research so together, we can reduce the impact of cancer.
“Cancer takes so much from all of us, but the daffodil represents hope for a cancer free future,” Mr Harper said.
“It’s why we’re calling on all Victorians to support us this Daffodil Day. Every bunch of daffodils purchased will be helping us fund life-saving cancer research, giving hope for better prevention, detection, treatment and care, and ultimately, saving lives.”
2024 marks 38 years of Daffodil Day, with all funds raised supporting vital cancer research. Where flowers bloom, so does hope.
