Australia’s leading medical cannabis wholesaler announces 60% annual growth as it enters third year

Australia’s largest medical cannabis wholesaler, Leafio, has announced a 60% growth in sales in the last 12 months as it approaches two and a half years in business.
Started in late 2022, Leafio was formed to help close the gap between supplier, pharmacy and patient by taking a ‘pharmacy-first’ approach, empowering pharmacies to optimise operations, enhance patient experience and deliver unparalleled service.

Since its inception, Leafio has gone on to become the country’s largest distributor of medicinal cannabis offering a range of more than 1200 products across 100 brands via its three warehouses. There are currently more than 3,500 pharmacies using Leafio to meet their medicinal cannabis needs, with the wholesaler receiving in excess of 1,000 orders per day.

Earlier this year, Leafio rolled out its same day delivery service to select Metro pharmacies to further improve accessibility to prescribed medicinal cannabis and drive greater efficiencies for dispensaries. The move has allowed hundreds of metro-based pharmacy customers to expedite their ordering process and ensure thousands of prescribed patients can quickly and reliably access the medicines they need.

Leafio’s three distribution centres in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane already facilitate next-day deliveries for more than 99% of orders for pharmacies across Australia. Same day delivery now bolsters that proposition and Leafio’s commitment to being the country’s most trusted medical cannabis wholesaler.

IPA Rockdale pharmacy owner, Gaby Hajjar, said having a wholesaler she can rely on makes all the difference to her business.
“Leafio’s vast product range ensures we always have what our customers need and their reliable, fast delivery keeps our safes stocked,” she said.

“We get exceptional support from our key account manager and we feel confident knowing we’re supported by a team that genuinely cares about our success.”

As the business looks ahead to the next 12 months, Ms Le Maistre said its sights will be set firmly on maintaining their position as Australia’s number one wholesaler by both range and revenue.

“We are laser-focused on continuing to provide high-quality, efficient and timely service to our network of more than three thousand pharmacy partners,” she said.

“Strategically, we will be seeking to broaden our partnerships and work more closely with pharmacy banner groups and parties. We also intend to open a fourth warehouse later this year.

“The core of our business will continue to centre around putting our pharmacy partners first and ensuring the best patient outcomes – this will not change as we grow and evolve within the medical cannabis industry.”
