12 teams to vie for business plan prize

Registrations for the 2019 Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s National Student Business Plan Competition are now closed, with 12 teams set to compete for this year’s prize.

The competition, which originated in 2006, is designed to encourage innovation among pharmacy students who will be the future owners of Australia’s community pharmacies.

This year’s competition follows the success of the 2018 competition and includes multiple registrations from several schools across Australia and New Zealand.

In 2019 the focus on innovation will continue to ensure that tomorrow’s owners look for highly differentiated services that they can provide to the Australian market.

The competition is an initiative of the Pharmacy Guild and sponsored by Sanofi Consumer Healthcare (principal sponsor), EBOS (major sponsor) and foundation sponsors Gold Cross Products and Services and Pharmaceutical Defence Ltd.

The competition will progress through several rounds culminating in the finals to be held at the Pharmacy Connect event in Sydney (September 5-7).

This year, an addition to the competition is the inclusion of the EBOS People’s Choice award in which delegates who attend the final pitches at Pharmacy Connect will have the opportunity to vote for whom they believe has the best business idea and presentation.

The People’s Choice award will be presented along with the winner’s trophy at the cocktail party on the Friday evening of Pharmacy Connect.

The competition was open to all pharmacy schools across Australia and New Zealand and will provide $15,000 in cash prizes to the finalists (top three teams) in addition to registration, flights and accommodation to attend Pharmacy Connect.
