Guild supports Bowen as Shadow Health Minister

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia has congratulated opposition MP Chris Bowen on his appointment as Shadow Health Minister.

Guild Acting National President Trent Twomey says Mr Bowen’s extensive political experience will be invaluable in the health portfolio.

“The Pharmacy Guild has long had a strong working relationship with Mr Bowen and we look forward to extending this now he has oversight of the important health portfolio in the opposition,” he said.

“Mr Bowen has always been very supportive of community pharmacy and understands the challenges the sector is currently facing.

“Mr Bowen also understands the small-business dynamics of community pharmacy and the need to ensure a viable and sustainable future for all our community pharmacies across the country.

“He is on record as saying small-business people struggle to find a voice in the national debate and that he would pay particular attention to the interests and aspirations of small-business people.

“Community pharmacy small businesses welcome that commitment and the Guild looks forward to continuing our close working relationship with Mr Bowen.”
