Amcal appoints new council chair

Amcal has appointed pharmacist Angela Boyatzis as the new National Chair of the Amcal Guardian National Council (AGNC).

Lili Cosic, owner and pharmacist at Amcal Corrimal Court has been announced as the AGNC’s Deputy Chair.

Head of Amcal, David Preston says the key appointments of Ms Boyatzis and Ms Cosic will be instrumental in the brand’s new strategy with convenience, trusted healthcare, differentiation, value and personalisation as key pillars of growth.

“We’re thrilled to have Angela and Lili join us as our new Chair and Deputy Chair, respectively. Each of them brings extensive experience and leadership skills to the Council as we continue to grow and expand our Amcal network,” says Mr Preston.

“We’d also like to express our personal and sincere gratitude to Marc Clavin and Rob King for their invaluable contribution over the years as our Amcal National Chair and Deputy Chair respectively.

“During their tenure, Marc and Rob played a significant role in supporting our brand growth and direction to become the trusted healthcare destination that it is today,” he says.

Bringing more than 25 years of pharmacy industry experience to the role, Ms Boyatzis says it’s an honour to be the first woman to chair the Council and is eager to be working alongside fellow council members to spearhead the growth of Amcal.

“As a member of the AGNC for the last four years, I’ve witnessed firsthand how the Council takes into consideration the feedback of franchise partners, and other key stakeholders, to best benefit our Amcal network and loyal customers,” says Ms Boyatzis.

“Community pharmacy is a very dynamic industry, and we’re currently seeing that in action as different states across Australia extend the scope of pharmacists, spanning vaccinations to women’s health.

“This scope is only set to grow, and we want to remain steady at the forefront of this evolving industry by providing our pharmacy teams with the right education and training programs. We need innovative, contemporary, and sustainable solutions to healthcare.

“It’s what franchise partners demand from us, and what we demand of ourselves in representing Amcals nationwide.

“We’re already a trusted healthcare brand, and we want to further hone our offerings to ensure that we’re catering exactly to the needs of the modern Australian,” she says.

The AGNC is a representative body of pharmacists working alongside Sigma Healthcare’s senior management to continually evolve Amcal’s brand, customer experience, and future brand development initiatives.

The appointment marks a new beginning for the council, following the recent consolidation of Amcal and Guardian pharmacies late in 2022.
