Bathurst pharmacist drives away in brand new Mazda

A Bathurst community pharmacist, Alissa, from Blooms The Chemist Bathurst Armada, visited the Gold Coast for APP and drove away with a Mazda CX-30 G20 Touring SUV, including registration for a year, worth almost $39,187.

When Alissa received the winner’s call, she was surprised and in shock.

“I never win anything! When I entered, I never thought that I’d actually win,” she said.

“I’ve been working in community pharmacy since my third year of university in 2014.

“Being a small regional town of around 45,000, the Bathurst community relies heavily on their local community pharmacy.

“It’s very exciting working in community pharmacy in one of the fastest-growing regional cities in New South Wales, as I’ve been able to see patients get better health outcomes through access to better primary healthcare over the years.

“I love working in community pharmacy and have been with Blooms The Chemist my entire career.

“I’ve been able to see families grow and support them on their health journeys; worked with local nursing homes and supported patients and their families during the transition from home living to living in aged care facilities.

“I have to thank The Pharmacy Guild of Australia and APP for this amazing prize, I’m so very grateful and so excited! I’m proud to be providing such vital primary healthcare services and supporting patients daily.”

APP2022 Convenor Kos Sclavos AM thanked everyone who attended APP this year and entered the car competition.

With over 6000 attendees, Mr Sclavos said that APP2022 was one of the best conferences in recent memory.

“Thank you to everyone who attended APP this year to refresh, recharge and reconnect.

“The entire pharmacy industry has worked tirelessly during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic supporting patients,” said Mr Sclavos.

“We’d love to give everyone a brand-new car as a thank you, but unfortunately there can only be one competition winner.

“Congratulations to Alissa for winning this amazing prize.

“Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend APP. Please save the date for APP2023, which will be held on 23-26 March 2023 on the Gold Coast.

“The next big industry event is Pharmacy Connect in Sydney on 1-3 September.

“Registrations are now open at pharmacy-connect.com.au, and the program will be available soon.”
