Catherine King presents at APP2018

Shadow Minister for Health and Medicare Catherine King will address delegates at APP2018 on Friday May 4, 2018.

Pharmacy Guild of Australia National President George Tambassis says it is important to hear from all major political parties in the lead-up to the next Community Pharmacy Agreement.

“It’s very timely to be hearing from the Labor Shadow Minister as I know the Australian Labor Party is about to embark on a new national policy platform to be endorsed at its national conference in Adelaide in July, so this is a good time to be having a two-way communication with Labor’s Shadow Minister for Health,” Mr Tambassis said.

APP Chairman Kos Sclavos AM says the presentation from Labor’s Shadow Minister for Health, Catherine King MP, will immediately follow the ‘State of the Industry’ panel on Friday at 8:30am.

“The addition of Minister King adds to an impressive array of speakers,” he said. “APP will once again play host to a range of international speakers, including US pharmacist Joe Moose, who will outline lessons from the USA on establishing strong relationships with patients and the patient’s local healthcare team.

“Other international speakers include UK-based oncologist Dr Paul Cornes, who will discuss biologics and biosimilars and inspire pharmacists on the key role they will play.”

US pharmacist and CEO and Executive Vice President of the American College of Apothecaries Donnie Calhoun will also discuss how pharmacy practice around the world is changing as patients seek out new ways to stay well.

APP18 offers attendees a comprehensive four-day educational program, social agenda and trade exhibition featuring more than 450 stands showcasing the latest products, services and industry developments.
