Chemist2U has closed a $3 million round of seed funding with start-up company AirTree Ventures.
The move allows Chemist2U join AirTree’s portfolio of leading Australian technology companies such as Canva, Pet Circle and Hotdoc.
The additional funding will also help the company develop its platform, further servicing those on multiple prescription medications, resourcing and marketing investment.
In turn, it will benefit pharmacies by boosting local health services, improving consumer access to timely medications and adherence, and enable greater consumer acquisition and adoption via digital channels.
Following its successful launch in February, Chemist2U continues to expand growing its local community pharmacy partnership portfolio to nearly 200 nationwide.
This significant increase sees partnerships in communities in NSW, WA, VIC, ACT, Tas and SA with regional towns including Mildura, Albany, Rockhampton and Armidale offering same day delivery service to their community members.
Chemist2U is a user friendly mobile phone app and web-based platform that streamlines access to prescription medication and OTC pharmacy only items.
Unlike many other healthcare delivery services that use overnight or a two+ day delivery approach, Chemist2U is dedicated to getting treatment to patients on the same day and mostly within hours of the order being placed.
According to Wendy Jin, Pharmacist at Melbourne Docklands Centree Health, “As community pharmacists, it is always our intention to offer convenient add-on services to our patients, particularly assisting patients with limitations to access pharmacy only items and we believe Chemist2U will have broad patient appeal.
“The app is easy to access and straightforward to use. Patients take a photo of their script or browse the website for over-the-counter pharmacy items and an order can be placed and delivered within hours.
“It is automation and technology for the greater good by bringing a new way of healthcare to patients.
“And, while it may appear to have re-imagined the local community pharmacy, we will continue to counsel and touch base with every patient when an order is placed.
“We want to ensure patients are familiar and know how to take their meds as their doctor intended.”
Chemist2U Founder, Dr Matthew Cullen explains, “While the Covid-19 crisis significantly increased demand for healthcare products, eCommerce and home delivery services, we believe Chemist2U will drive sustainable growth for partner pharmacies well beyond the Covid-19 pandemic thanks to the rising popularity of purchasing over mobile platforms, especially among the new generation of digitally-savvy customers.
“As the e-prescription framework is progressively rolled out by the Government we will see a much greater adoption of digital channels in this sector.”
