Competency standards implementation tools

The Pharmacy Practitioner Development Committee (PPDC) has released tools to support the implementation of the ‘National competency standards framework for pharmacists in Australia 2016’.

The tools were developed with funding from the Pharmacy Board of Australia, to assist pharmacists in meeting the requirements outlined in the board’s registration standard and guidelines on continuing professional development (CPD).

The board-funded tools are freely available and have added choice for pharmacists, pharmacy interns and pharmacy students.

The suite of tools includes:

  • A summary and implementation guide.
  • Editable template tools for self-assessment and development of a learning plan.
  • Case examples showing the use of the tools by pharmacists with different scopes of practice.
  • Video presentation modules.

The next CPD period begins on October 1, and access to these tools or tools made available by PPDC member organisations will assist pharmacists to meet their annual CPD obligations.
