New APP session to outline impacts of COVID-19 on community pharmacy

Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference organisers are pleased to announce that a new session regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been added to the APP2020 program.

Conference Convenor Kos Sclavos AM said that a senior representative from the Commonwealth Office of Health Protection will attend APP to present the session.

“On the back of the developing COVID-19 issue, we recognise the need to ensure community pharmacists are well informed with true and accurate information regarding this health concern.

“We are pleased to announce that Dr Catherine Kelaher, Principal Medical Adviser at the Commonwealth Office of Health Protection, will attend APP to deliver a tailored presentation on COVID-19 on Saturday 21 March from 12:15 – 1:00pm.

“While pharmacists have been following the media regarding COVID-19 closely, the benefit of attending this new session is that pharmacy specific issues relating to the impact of COVID-19 will be presented.

“This issue is placing strain on the health system at all levels and community pharmacy has a vital role to play regarding the continuity of supply of prescription medicines, as well as providing evidence-based health advice to our worried patients,” Kos said.

As this new session will run concurrently to lunch, delegates are encouraged to review the updated program and plan their attendance accordingly.
