EBOS Group and TerryWhite Chemmart Celebrate the Enduring Legacy of Pharmacy Pioneers Terry and Rhonda White AO

In an era marked by dedication and innovation in the Australian pharmacy market, Terry White AO and Rhonda White AO stand as trailblazers whose remarkable journey has left an indelible mark on the industry. After a remarkable career spanning over six decades in community pharmacy ownership, Terry and Rhonda’s enduring legacy is tonight (Thursday, Sept 21) being celebrated at an industry event hosted by EBOS Group.

Their journey began with a shared vision to make healthcare accessible and personalised for their community. In 1958, Terry took the first step by acquiring his initial pharmacy in Woody Point on the Redcliffe Peninsula. Shortly after their marriage in 1961, Rhonda opened her first pharmacy in Clontarf, igniting what some might have called friendly competition.

Terry and Rhonda’s unwavering commitment to innovation, quality, and integrity inspired numerous pharmacists to follow in their footsteps. In 1994, they established the franchise company Terry White Chemists, a visionary endeavour that reshaped the landscape of community pharmacy in Australia.

For Terry and Rhonda, there was always a belief in the power and capability of pharmacists to do more to support the broader healthcare system and this belief drove a commitment to innovation in products and services that have propelled not only their business forward but the community pharmacy sector as a whole.

“In 2014, together with the Queensland Government and other pharmacies in Queensland we were proud to bring the Queensland Pharmacist Immunisation Pilot program for flu vaccines to life, setting a path for pharmacist led vaccination services,” said Mr White.

“And the future for pharmacists and the care they can provide is brighter than ever. I’m excited to see scope expanding and look forward to seeing pharmacists prescribing for minor ailments as part of the Far North Queensland Scope of Practice Pilot – a future we have always imagined and worked towards,” Mr White continued.

The journey of growth for Terry, Rhonda and the Terry White Chemists team took an exciting turn in 2016 when the then Terry White Chemists business merged with Chemmart, creating one of the largest pharmacy brands in Australia with a clear commitment to delivering better health outcomes for all Australians. In 2018, the group was acquired by EBOS and today the TerryWhite Chemmart brand boasts a network of over 550 pharmacies nationwide, earning its place as one of the most trusted and recognised and trusted pharmacy brands in Australia.
