Intern charged with fraud and forgery

A young pharmacist has been charged with fraud, forgery, uttering a forged document and making a false entry into a record.

Previously, when applying to register as a pharmacist, she incorrectly submitted completion of the mandatory 1824 hours as an intern under supervision at a Brisbane pharmacy when in fact she’d only completed 1146 hours.

She was registered as a pharmacist, followed by her previous employer pointing out her incorrect entry.

News Corp media featured the article, describing how her Legal Aid Lawyer recounted to the Brisbane Magistrates Court the pharmacist’s graduation with honours, before beginning her internship at a Brisbane pharmacy where conditions were less than ideal.

The conditions included preparing medicines for up to 90 residents of nursing homes a week, while also needing to study.

Her employer also had her running errands such as collecting wedding portraits, buying lunch, walking the dog and taking her car to be washed.

The practitioner worked for one month as a registered pharmacist before being contacted by AHPRA.

The pharmacist was fined $2000 without being convicted.
