While effective communication is important in all facets of life, it’s particularly important within healthcare, including community pharmacy.
The ability to communicate effectively with your customers will improve their ability to follow through with advice around medications, managing chronic conditions and preventative health and wellbeing behaviours (Kerr A et al., 2017).
To help build effective communication and leadership skills that are part of lifelong learning, Guild Learning and Development, with sponsorship from Upjohn Australia, has developed a new online course to support pharmacy staff in further developing their skills.
Titled Leadership and communication in community pharmacy, the course aims to provoke deeper consideration of the subtle changes in communication that can yield significant returns in customer engagement and health outcomes.
The course utilises video case studies and features a podcast on leadership and communication with leadership experts, Julia van Grass and Steph Clarke from leadership specialists, Spiique.
The podcast can also be accessed via the Pharmacy Business and Career Network Podcast channel.
This activity has been accredited for one hour of Group 1 CPD (or 1 CPD credit), suitable for inclusion in an individual pharmacist’s CPD plan, which can be converted to one hour of Group 2 CPD (or 2 CPD credits) upon successful completion of relevant assessment activities.
