National HEART Award winners for 2021 announced

The national winners of the TerryWhite Chemmart (TWC) 2021 HEART Awards were announced on 30 May at the final gala event of the state-based ‘Next Level’ event series held at The Crown in Perth.

The TWC HEART Awards cover recognition across health, customer engagement, service, and leadership.

The prestigious Rhonda White Leadership Award was won by Kaail Bohm from TWC Delroy in NSW.

Kaail is a part-owner pharmacist of the highly successful TWC Delroy in Dubbo, which also recently won the 2021 TWC Pharmacy of the Year for NSW.

A passionate indigenous pharmacist, Kaail recognised the difference he could make to the surrounding indigenous communities, particularly throughout the pandemic and Covid-19 vaccination rollout.

He volunteered his time on weekends to go out to these communities and talk to their members to drive positive health outcomes helping increase vaccination uptake during a period of escalating Covid-19 cases.

“I am incredibly proud to be recognised for this award which would not be at all possible without the support of my brilliant Delroy team,” Mr Bohm said.

“It’s particularly humbling considering the company of my fellow nominees who have each made such an enormous impact in their respective communities.”

The entire TWC network is immensely proud of Kaail’s achievements.

“Leadership has been key in our network’s response to the challenges over the last two years,” TWC Executive General Manager Nick Munroe said.

“Kaail is an inspiring individual who has truly demonstrated this leadership and the value a pharmacist’s role brings to the local community.

“He has shown that when a community can’t reach us, we can reach them. He is also a tireless advocate who has invested a significant portion of his time driving awareness for vulnerable communities by speaking with local media and collaborating with local organisations to improve patient health outcomes.”

Jo Martin from Plunkett’s TWC Port Macquarie won the Retail Leadership Award, which recognises the pharmacy team leader who consistently leads their team by example.

The National Pharmacy of the Year award was won by TWC Arana Hills in QLD for customer service excellence led by owner Karen Brown and pharmacist Peter Fairgray.

The Pharmacy Improvement Award was won by the team from TWC Sandy Point in Tasmania.

State Pharmacy of the Year winners included:

  • Queensland – TWC Arana Hills.
  • New South Wales – TWC Delroy.
  • Victoria – TWC Leongatha.
  • Tasmania – TWC Valley Road Devonport.
