Pharmacy Connect a success

More than 900 national and international delegates came together for the long-awaited Pharmacy Connect conference, which was held in Sydney on 1-3 September.

Thanking those who contributed to and supported the successful conference, convenor Kos Sclavos AM says it was fantastic to have 100s of people attending the conference.

“Congratulations to the many people who have worked diligently on delivering the Pharmacy Connect Conference, not just this year but the planning that had gone into the two postponed conferences,” Mr Sclavos said.

“This year’s conference had over 30 speakers focusing on the theme of how pharmacists can build better connections with patients.”

The conference also saw 50-plus exhibitors in action at the trade exhibition, which was “buzzing with energy” according to Mr Sclavos.

“The 50-plus exhibitors in the trade exhibition were buzzing with energy as suppliers were able to reconnect face-to-face with pharmacists and owners about new and innovative products and services for pharmacy,” he said.

“With two years of no Pharmacy Connect, I was delighted to see delegates enjoying themselves at the social functions which included the Welcome Reception, Cocktail Party and Women in Pharmacy Breakfast,” Mr Sclavos added.

The conference concluded with the Australia Health Minister Young Pharmacist Global Exchange Scholarship being presented to Grace Orr-Young by Hon Emma McBride MP.

Ms Orr-Young is a West Australian pharmacist and has the opportunity to work in the United Kingdom for up to 12 months.

Looking forward to 2023 Mr Sclavos recommends marking your calendar for 31 August to 2 September 2023 for next year’s Pharmacy Connect, as well as APP2023.

“If you are starting to think about your next professional development and networking opportunity, think about APP2023,” Mr Sclavos said.
