Retiring Health Minister acknowledged by pharmacy body

The NSW Branch of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia has acknowledged the services of Minister for Health, Brad Hazzard after he announced his upcoming retirement.

NSW Pharmacy Guild President David Heffernan says that in his long tenure Minister Hazzard “demonstrated time and time again his recognition of the crucial role that pharmacists play in securing better health outcomes for patients”.

“From helping deliver eight and a half million COVID-19 vaccines to helping to ensure quality patient care during two years of difficult lockdowns, the partnership between community pharmacists and the government during the COVID-19 pandemic was vital to keeping people in New South Wales safe,” Mr Heffernan said.

“I wish Minister Hazzard and his family all the best as he moves into the next stage of his life.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pharmacy Guild worked closely with Minister Hazzard to ensure that patients received vital care and in ensuring the successful delivery of the vaccine rollout.

The productive and collaborative relationship between the Government, the Guild, and other health bodies was essential to NSW’s COVID-19 response.
