Risk-free registration promised for APP2021

With the recent announcement that the mass rollout of Covid-19 vaccinations in community pharmacy will be delayed for at least a month, Kos Sclavos AM, APP2021 Convenor and former Guild National President, invites the industry to join him at the Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference (APP2021) for not-to-be-missed Covid-19 sessions, which will help with vaccine rollout preparations.

“There’s just over seven weeks until the industry reconnects in Queensland on 20-23 May 2021. I encourage attendees to register and take a few days to reconnect at APP before the expected community pharmacy Covid-19 vaccine rollout in June,” says Mr Sclavos.

“The four-day educational program includes Covid-19, vaccination and future of pharmacy updates to help prepare your community pharmacy and staff. Take a few days to get the latest updates and professional development before Covid-19 vaccinations commence in pharmacy.”

For those anxious about the current volatile climate where Covid-19 lockdowns and border restrictions are concerned, Mr Sclavos also reassures the pharmacy industry that attendees looking forward to the APP2021 will receive a 100% refund on their delegate registration fee, should circumstances unexpectedly change due to Covid-19.

“We’ve made changes this year to protect all those who have registered by making sure attendees have options if border control measures or government restrictions prevent a delegate from attending,” reassures Mr Sclavos.

“In these circumstances, delegates will have a few options, including the ability to receive a full 100 per cent refund, or transfer their registration to another delegate, at no cost.

“Attendees can also take advantage of the Federal Government’s tourism support package, which includes half-price domestic travel to the Gold Coast.”

Mr Sclavos says organisers have implemented several agile plans to ensure the event itself was Covid-Safe.

“An example of our Covid-safety is the new seamless and secure check-in and name badge collection experience for attendees,” explains Mr Sclavos.

“We’ve got airport-style self-check-in for the event, where attendees book a time to get their name badge pass. We encourage everyone to download the Check-In Qld App in advance of APP2021, as we’ll be using this contactless, and convenient way to check into the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“We are providing as much space as possible for attendees to enjoy the sessions. This year we’ll have additional areas where sessions are live streamed, so everyone is comfortable, and no one misses out on the crucial educational content that APP provides.

“Along with various other measures, we’ll be ensuring sanitiser and face masks (if needed) are on-hand for all attendees.

“We’re taking every precaution to make APP2021 as Covid-Safe as possible,” says Mr Sclavos adding that he has had his “first Covid-19 vaccine injection” and that he encourages his “colleagues to do the same before APP”.
