This World Ovarian Cancer Day, TerryWhite Chemmart (TWC) proudly marks two decades of support for Ovarian Cancer Australia (OCA), reinforcing its commitment to raising awareness and funds for the thousands of Australians affected by ovarian cancer each year.
Building on the momentum from initiatives launched earlier this year, TWC is on track to achieve its goal of raising $450,000 by the end of the financial year. This milestone is being approached through a combination of pharmacy-led fundraising activities, the generous contributions of over 30 supplier partners participating in the 50-cent donation campaign, and the sale of teal merchandise in-store. The teal ribbon has become a powerful symbol of recognition and solidarity for those impacted by ovarian cancer.
Nick Munroe, Executive General Manager at TerryWhite Chemmart, reflected on the enduring partnership and recognised the incredible efforts pharmacy teams have gone to this year.
“For 20 years, the TerryWhite Chemmart network have stood alongside Ovarian Cancer Australia, championing the cause and striving to make a tangible difference in the lives of those suffering ovarian cancer and their families across the country. This partnership is more than just a collaboration; it’s a testament to our shared commitment to women’s health and the power of community-driven initiatives,” he said.
“Each and every year we are inspired by the level of commitment the TWC network shows for this partnership, and this year we’ve continued to see more pharmacies engage and take it to a new level.”
Across the TerryWhite Chemmart network, there are countless inspiring examples of teams going the extra mile – from hosting morning teas and running community raffles to bold gestures like cutting off ponytails or shaving heads, as demonstrated by Kin Chong, TerryWhite Chemmart Network Partner and Vice President of the Pharmacy Guild of Victoria.
In one of the most recent initiatives, the team at TerryWhite Chemmart Caboolture North are recognising World Ovarian Cancer Day by organising a silent auction featuring a framed 2024 Brisbane Lions AFLW finals jersey, hand-signed by the entire team. This exclusive, professionally framed piece of memorabilia presents a rare opportunity for fans to own a slice of AFL history, all while supporting a critical cause. Every dollar raised will be donated directly to Ovarian Cancer Australia.
Debbie Shiell, CEO of Ovarian Cancer Australia, expressed her gratitude for the continued support.
“TerryWhite Chemmart, all 600+ pharmacies, have been an invaluable partner in our mission to support women affected by ovarian cancer. Their dedication over the past 20 years has significantly amplified our outreach and impact. Initiatives like this silent auction not only raise essential funds but also foster a sense of community and hope for those navigating their ovarian cancer journey.”
Ovarian cancer remains the deadliest female cancer in Australia, with only 49% of women surviving five years post-diagnosis. Through continued awareness campaigns, fundraising efforts, and community engagement, TerryWhite Chemmart and Ovarian Cancer Australia aim to change this statistic and provide better outcomes for women nationwide.
