TWC Masterclass returns for 8th year

TerryWhite Chemmart (TWC) has kicked off its eighth annual 3-day Masterclass event on the Gold Coast to continue the education of the network’s Masterclass trained pharmacists

After being held virtually for the first time last year, Masterclass 2022 returned on 27 June to a face-to-face format with a comprehensive agenda providing delegate pharmacists with a pathway to achieve their full year’s CPD accreditation.

Over three full days, delegates will be upskilled on numerous topics including menstrual health, nocturnal enuresis, prostate cancer, diabetes and other chronic conditions to become better health professionals across a range of areas.

Chief Pharmacist Brenton Hart, who will be leading proceedings alongside his dedicated health team, is confident this year’s event will leave delegates better equipped to serve their patients with a wide range of health conditions.

“Every year we aim to deliver quality content that will enable our pharmacist network to practice to the fullest of their scope and imbed themselves as healthcare leaders in their respective communities,” said Mr Hart.

“This year I am particularly excited to welcome health coaches Shivaun Conn and Sharon Curtain (from Accredited Health Coaching Australia) who will coach the team to incorporate principles of Lifestyle Medicine to bring new approaches to primary healthcare and instigate long-term, sustainable behaviour change in patients.”

Mr Hart will share the stage with several other highly-respected health professionals who are each pioneers in their field, including Pain Management Expert Joyce McSwan who will help pharmacists understand their role in managing work-related musculoskeletal disorders; Dr Lesley Braun from the Blackmores Institute who will look at the role of complementary medicine in mental health and; Debbie Rigby who will guide pharmacists on their role in smoking cessation therapy.

TWC Executive General Manager Nick Munroe believes the high calibre of speakers and the return to a face-to-face format will undoubtedly continue the Masterclass legacy of being one of the premier education programs for pharmacists.

“We are honoured to have such a strong lineup of health and industry leaders who will help our network of pharmacists drive real change to the health of their respective communities,” said Mr Munroe.

“These events are also simply not possible without the incredible support of our supplier partners who, year after year, support our team to deliver content that is both easily digestible and importantly practical to deliver in-store.”

The 2022 Masterclass event will also serve as a launch vehicle for an expanded Care Clinic offer, which will commence with the Sanofi Diabetes Thrive Program.

“We are excited to partner with Sanofi to be the first pharmacy group to deliver the Thrive diabetes training program.

“The Thrive program is accredited by the Australian Pharmacy Council and the Australian Diabetes Educators Association and involves four 60-minute modules designed to help pharmacists offer person-centred support for people living with diabetes,” said Mr Hart.

“This program is just one of many we will be rolling out throughout the year and would not be possible without the support of our loyal supplier partners like Sanofi.”

TWC Masterclass is the pinnacle pharmacist education program on the TWC calendar and is supported throughout the year with state-based Masterclass Forum events.

The 2022 Masterclass event will also include the announcement of the Pharmacist of the Year and a special fundraising event for Ovarian Cancer Australia.
