2019 study scholarships

The 2019 Pharmacy Scholarship Scheme is now open for rural and remote students studying or intending to study pharmacy.

Supported by the Department of Health, the Rural Pharmacy Scholarship Scheme provides up to $40,000 of financial support to encourage and enable students from rural and remote communities to undertake undergraduate or graduate studies in pharmacy. Up to 30 full-time scholarships are available, each valued at $10,000 per year during a four-year period.

The course of study must lead directly to registration as a pharmacist. Scholarship recipients are encouraged to seek employment in rural and remote areas following graduation.

Eligible students are also able to apply for one of three Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Pharmacy Scholarships offered each year.

“These scholarships offer encouragement and support to rural and remote pharmacy students,” Pharmacy Guild of Australia National President George Tambassis said. “The scholarships provide financial assistance and also support for would-be pharmacists to realise their ambition.

“It is a great initiative that helps students achieve their goals and supports community pharmacy in rural and remote areas where the local pharmacy is a vital component of the health system.”

Applications can be made via the www.6cpa.com.au website under ‘Rural Support Programs’ and ‘Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Specific Programs’, respectively.
