SHPA’s Transformation agenda near complete as ‘Communities’ prepares to go live
The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) has announced details of a new app-based purpose-built platform that will allow for faster, easier communication between its members from July, completing the final pillar of the organisation’s visionary Transformation 2024 agenda.
‘Communities’ is Australia’s new home of specialty pharmacy practice, hosting clinical discussions and collaboration, powered by alerts and notifications, and marks the latest in a run of member-driven digital projects supporting pharmacists and technicians.
SHPA President Tom Simpson FANZCAP (Lead&Mgmt) says digital capability is essential to not only meet the needs of SHPA’s fast-growing membership base but support and empower joined-up pharmacy that is advancing the profession and improving care outcomes.
‘Members have called for a purpose-built platform they can access easily from anywhere, and we are proud to deliver.
‘Communities puts Specialty Practice in your pocket. An intuitive online base for members to engage and support each other across the spectrum of experience and practice, while shaping education and driving change at policy level.
‘This connection is key to improve medicines safety and outcomes for patients, enhancing knowledge-sharing to ensure the benefits of advanced pharmacy practices reach every Australian.
‘For members, Communities will form a backbone of joined-up pharmacy as SHPA connects practitioners through world-class standards of practice, pre-eminent education, innovative models of care, opportunities for leadership, and through the Australian and New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy (ANZCAP), Australia’s first comprehensive pharmacy recognition program.’
The launch of the new digital platform marks the completion of the final two pillars of the organisation’s Transformation 2024 agenda, following announcements on upcoming Technician Board Director position and new membership pathway for New Zealanders, setting the scene for the organisation’s next strategic plan to advance pharmacy in Australia.
Mr Simpson says he has been honoured to work with members to deliver the milestones of Transformation 2024.
