‘Hassle-free’ pump gets Breastfeeding Week lift

Australian online store Milkbar Breastpumps has used World Breastfeeding Week (August 1-7) to promote its products that it says make breastfeeding possible for mothers worldwide.

The company has released an “exclusive, limited edition” pink silicone flower stopper designed to sit tight in the neck of the Haakaa pump it distributes, to stop any spills or accidents.

This follows Milkbar Breastpumps founder Diana Swadling “seizing the opportunity” to distribute the pump in Australia amid other products after her own struggles with breastfeeding.

When Ms Swadling returned to work in Sydney just six months after the birth of her first child, she was unaware of the toll it would take on her breastfeeding.

The new mum struggled to find the time and space to pump milk from a heavy pump (requiring a power point) multiple times per day, which resulted in milk supply issues

She stumbled across the New Zealand-established Haakaa breast pump, which is promoted as being free from wires, batteries and bulk and enabling mothers to use it underneath their clothes while driving, working and travelling.
