ACP’s international status

The Australian College of Pharmacy has achieved international recognition as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.

The US-based Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education considered the college’s application at its June 2018 meeting and granted the college accredited provider status for all types of continuing pharmacy education for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

College President Georgina Twomey says the recognition is validation that the college is “on the right path” in terms of its approach to CPD standards and as a provider of meaningful CPD for the profession.

“We’re proud to be the first Australian pharmacy education provider to achieve this status,” she said.

In 2013, the college’s academic board decided to set a new standard for the college’s education program. Academic board chair Professor Michael Roberts said:

“This result is an important milestone which will enable the college to accredit CPD for our international clients, and the recent work we have done to attain this recognition will allow the college to continue with its tradition of providing the best possible standard of clinical and management CPD to Australian pharmacists.”
