Blackmores appoints Alastair Symington CEO

Vitamin maker Blackmores has named Alastair Symington as its CEO and Managing Director.

The position becomes effective from October 1 for Mr Symington, who has worked for a number of international health and beauty brands.

Blackmores Chair Brent Wallace told the Australian Securities Exchange that Symington will be a valuable addition to the company.

“Alastair brings the right mix of knowledge, experience and skill that is required to drive the Blackmores Group’s growth strategy and seize on opportunities available to our business across the Asia Pacific region.”

He also has, according to Mr Wallace, a “proven track record of achieving significant sales growth throughout the Asia region, particularly in China, with a strong focus on new product development and innovation”.

“Product innovation and education is a key priority for Blackmores in China,” said Mr Wallace.

“Alastair’s deep understanding of China and proven track record in product innovation will enable us to continue growing in this important market.”

Symington’s appointment comes three months after the previous CEO, Richard Henfrey, left the company after being in the role for 18 months.
