Capital Chemist Kingston wins local business award

The local Business Awards for Outstanding Pharmacy in the Canberra region went to Capital Chemist Group Kingston.

The award was received by the Chairman of the Board of Capital Chemist group, Sandra Ferrington, and the team at Capital Chemist Kingston on November 13.

Capital Chemist Group Business Manager Andrew Topp says the award is nominated by customers and voted locally.

Twelve other pharmacies were nominated in the region.

Ms Ferrington recently relocated the pharmacy from one side of the inner-Canberra suburb of Kingston to the other, thereby building the workspace and workflow of her dreams and increasing accessibility to the pharmacy.

The new space forms part of a health hub, with the pharmacy offering a range of health services including vaccinations, medication reviews and MedsChecks, opioid replacement and dose administration aids.

The pharmacy supports health initiatives in many areas including weight loss, sleep apnoea screening and sales, COPD and lung function checks, and audiometry.

It also offers pre-employment medicals in partnership with Workforce Health Assessors, making full use of its three consulting rooms, four pharmacists and 23 staff.

Ms Ferrington took time out from celebrating to thank her staff and the community.

“It’s very rewarding to see the fulfilment of my dream and see just how much we are improving people’s health – and how much they value that. The space we have created and services we provide are appreciated by our customers as we strive to improve their health and wellbeing.”
