Sigma partners with Medmate to create localised eCommerce platform for Amcal and DDS pharmacies

Amcal and Discount Drug Stores pharmacies will have a transformed eCommerce online platform in the coming months following a new partnership agreement signed between Sigma Healthcare and leading healthcare technology and logistics provider Medmate.

The new hyper-local eCommerce operating model is designed for community pharmacies to meet the increasing needs of their local communities through convenient local pricing, local stock and local delivery options.

Medmate will build and manage the new Amcal and DDS websites as well as provide fast and effective delivery options for customers. The platform will offer shoppers improved product range and the introduction of selected prescription medicines to be available online, alongside improved functionality and user experience.

Customers will simply enter their postcode in the website and be connected with the eCommerce platform attached to their nearest Amcal or DDS store.

“We will be proud to offer hundreds of Amcal and DDS pharmacies the convenience of a nationally scaled eCommerce platform in the coming months. Together, Medmate and Sigma are supporting the digital transformation of Australian pharmacy and improving access to vital medication and pharmacy services for patients,” he said.

“This new eCommerce model will transform the Amcal and DDS websites and create a localised eCommerce solution that helps our pharmacies effectively compete in the growing digital market, while at the same time boosting their sales revenue and profit from their eCommerce transactions,’’ Mr Preston said.

Medmate CEO, Dr Ganesh Naidoo, said, “It’s a privilege to support Sigma and their amazing franchise partners in their digital transformation journey. The new websites will be more contemporary and easier to navigate.’’

More information on the new hyper-local eCommerce platforms will be distributed to all Amcal and DDS pharmacies over the coming month.
