The Pharmacy Guild of Australia will launch its first Member Census in more than a decade this March, seeking updated national data on today’s community pharmacy sector.
The 2026 Census is the first since 2012 and aims to capture the realities of their “community pharmacy business, teams and future ambitions”.
“Much has changed since the last Census — from the services community pharmacies provide and the expectations of Australian patients, to the pressures of running a small business and the growing demand for a skilled, sustainable workforce,” says Professor Trent Twomey, National President Pharmacy Guild of Australia.
The Guild says the findings of the 2026 Census will help inform future planning, advocacy, support and member services that reflect the real operating environment facing pharmacy owners today.
“Our members are busy people,” says Professor Twomey.
“The Census has been specifically designed to be simple, flexible and respectful of time. It’s also completely confidential.”
Members will have the option to choose either a quick online form or a phone-based census at a convenient time.
The Guild says all information will be de‐identified and aggregated, with no individual pharmacy identifiable in any reporting.
Data will not be shared with third parties outside the Guild.
The Guild assures members that they can participate with “complete confidence that their insights are safe, respected, and used solely to strengthen the support and value of Guild membership”.
“Accurate, contemporary information from our members is critical to ensuring the Guild can advocate effectively, tailor support services, direct workforce initiatives and help build long‐term industry thrivability,” says the Guild.
The Guild Member Census 2026 opens in March.
